Cyclone report from Townsville

Hi everyone ,

The guys from Townsville all faired ok, all the F18s are damage free and apart from a few fallen trees properties are ok aswell.
Was a long night with breeze starting to build here about 7pm last night with around 35knots, peaked at around 90 knots during the night for around 5 hours and was still around 30-40 knots at around 8am. Only in the last couple of hours has the breeze dropped below 20. We were bunkered in the house with essentials under the mattress in the bathroom.
Big clean up tomorrow, currently we are on extreme water rations in Tvl but have been told water and sewage plants should be operational tomorrow. Power is out and still could be many days before it returns. A lot of lines down around town. We all have gen sets so the beers are still cold!
As far as I know all the guys in Cairns and port Douglas faired well, the major hit areas were south of Mission.
Mission beach has been reported to have been hit pretty hard. I will let you know how our friends from there are
As soon as I know, I can only assume they had to be evacuated prior due to being such a low area.

Thanks for all your thoughts and wishes. It is very much appreciated.

Mick and Christy.
