[Fwd: Racing this weekend]

Hi All

We all had a great time at the Nationals in Geelong. It was awesome. Hundreds of boats, thousands of sailors, the music played and the sun shone. For highlights of the regatta and results go to the website www.victoriaweek.com.au Twenty five F18s competed for the national title. Steve Brewin and Jack Benson won the regatta with the new design C2 from Australian High Performance Catamarans (AHPC). Greg and Brett Goodall came second in the other C2. A Hobie Tiger came third sailed by Robbie Lovig and Lachlan Gibson. Brett Burvill from Western Australia came fourth in the newly designed Windrush Edge. Check out the victoriaweek website for the news stories, photos and results. One thing to note is we had four lady skippers at the event which is a first. Fourteen year old Maggie Nissen is the one to watch finishing 15th and skippering in her first big event. Well done Maggie and her Dad Dean!

This weekend it is all on again at Speers Point. They are running a Pulbah Island Marathon which starts at 12.45pm at Speers Point on the northern end of Lake Macquarie and races around Pulbah Island and back (about 35km). The forecast is looking good with 12-19 knots SSE/SE. So it should be a great race. We have heard rumours that the club now has seven F18s. Apparently the club members have been buying Tigers over the summer so now the have five Tigers and two Nacras. Will they all be on the water? Some of the Sydney sailors are making the trip north for the race. Kyle has coaxed Andrew Driver out of his premature retirement to crew for the day as Sam is on crutches with a busted knee. Stuart and I will be racing. Who else is coming out to play?

After the Pulbah Marathon the next event is the "Cock of the Bay" at Kurnell. THEY HAVE CHANGED THE DATE. It is now on Sunday 21st Feb.
