F18 News "NSW"

Hi all
BRASS MONKEYS REGATTA 28-29th August.

I have been overwhelmed by the positive response to this regatta. We have nine F18s definitely sailing and 2 extra F18s that will probably sail. Just about everybody is coming to the dinner and bringing there families. We have 50 booked for dinner on Saturday night, including 15 teenagers. I have had a few questions.
Booking for dinner? I have a list of all those coming to dinner. Don't contact the club but tell me if you and your family are coming. Please let me know ASAP if you are joining us.
Paying for dinner?
I will collect the money for dinner on the Saturday morning for those sailing, or after the race for those not sailing.
Parking?
There is 2 and 4 hour street parking near the club but sailors have been booked in the past. I suggest to park in High St or even Whaling Rd.
Location? For a map of the location of the club go to the website www.sydneyflyingsquadron.com.au/contact-us
Ferry? The spectator ferry comes to the club wharf. Several of the families have expressed interest in the ferry. Look at the site www.rosman.com.au/regal_pictures.htm to see pictures. At present the ferry is due to board at 11.45am which is over an hour before the race. I am negotiating with the club to load the ferry later so the girls don't get board. I'll keep you posted.
NEW BOATS Chris Caldercoat and Laura Baldwin have bought a F18 and will be racing with us in October. Laura is in the UK racing Sail for Gold Regatta then the pair will be in San Fran for the Finn Gold Cup and then onto the Women's Match Race Worlds. Laura wrote, "

We've seen sense and are going to sail a fun boat after this." Victorian based Greg Goodall from AHPC also made contact saying a new C2 should arrive in October and he hoped to make it to 2 or 3 NSW regattas.Windrush in WA have designed and built a new F18 called the Wedge. I have heard that they will be shipping the boat to Sydney and WA sailors will fly across to compete in a few events. Henk Zeeman from Speers Point is test sailing a F18 this weekend and is hoping to join our fleet.
WEBSITE James Ogilvie has been spending considerable amounts of time this week updating our website. With Kyle's help they have created a whole new look to the site with lots of useful links. It will work a bit like a blog site with regular updates. The boys are still working out a few bugs in the system but it should be up and running in a day or two. Check it out www.ausf18.org.au Thank you James and Kyle for creating such an effective communication tool.
CALENDAR Some of the dates were wrong on the last draft calendar. Please note that the Pulbah Island Marathon is on 5th Feb and the Trial Bay Regatta on the 5-6 March (not the 7-8). I have revised the draft calendar and it is attached.
